Biomechanical (musculoskeletal – MSK) and many gait problems are usually painful problems that develop due to the poor mechanical functioning of the feet. These problems may be in areas other than the foot but develop due to poor foot function. When structures are out of alignment or not functioning as they were designed it can overload and stress various structures and tissues.

Through a careful biomechanical examination we can identify the injured structures/ tissues and put in place a treatment program to get you back on your feet pain free.

This may mean wearing certain footwear, carrying out specific exercises or through using an orthotic device (prescription insole). We usually have orthoses custom made for you from casts of your own feet as no two feet are alike and the best results are obtained when something is specifically tailored to your needs.

Plantar Fasciitis / Heel pain

One of the most common heel pain syndromes is called Plantar Fasciitis.
Over the years here at Footfriend we have successfully helped thousands of people get rid of this painful condition. Through a careful examination we can determine whether you have plantar fasciitis or another heel pain problem. This condition will not go overnight but we can tailor a program for you at your first appointment to help alleviate this painful problem from day one.

Flat Feet / Fallen Arches

If you have true flat feet “Pes planus” your feet will be pancake flat all the time weight bearing and non weight bearing. Often what are observed as flat feet or fallen arches are feet that are very flexible and more readily conform to the ground or feet which are misaligned mechanically due to various weak structures.

These types of feet need special care as often they affect the way you walk and can create problems not only in the feet but the ankles, knees and hips if severe.
