American Society of Mechanical engineers membership

Designed for Excellence, Engineered for Greatness

This is the BRAND NEW website for ASME at UH. This will be home to our calendar of events, list of officers and contact info, newsletter articles, opportunities to join and sign up to volunteer, and even buy food from the snack bar (without delivery).

Who we are:

The American Society of Mechanical Engineers at the University of Houston is comprised of Undergraduate and Graduate students with a focus on Mechanical Engineering majors. You’ll often find us volunteering at university events for recruiting such as Cat’s Back, or at some of the social events such as the BOS Party. Most of all, you can find us in the classroom as students excelling in engineering. Our members acquire some excellent internship opportunities with companies such as Marathon Oil, Boeing, FMC Technologies Inc., CenterPoint Energy, and many more. We help our members get jobs through our LinkedIn alumni group and by providing fun and informative career prep. So who are we? Well, hopefully you.

What we do:

ASME at UH is a professional student organization that is run and operated by the students themselves. We host events such as: externships where we tour facilities, informational sessions where companies come out and speak to us about their opportunities, volunteering to help out the local community, and of course our fun social events where we get to practice our networking skills and make some great friends. We also provide assistance in classes informally whenever possible, just stop us after class or in the lounge and we’ll do what we can to help out!

Why we do it:

Simply because we are motivated individuals that are dedicated to improving the standard of University of Houston Mechanical Engineers. We want to go out into the workplace and show up with courage and pride that we learned all we could and prepared ourselves for the challenges that await ahead. Our officers go above and beyond all the time to donate their time to providing these engaging opportunities to each of you to ensure our ASME spirit lives on. We also love the friends made here and would do anything to support our fellow members.

How to join:

Super easy! You can approach us at a general meeting or informational session or visit our lounge (room location on right of page) for a printed form. If you want to do it paperless, then visit our form application on Get Involved and while you’re at it, join the membership group on Get Involved at the same time!

In terms of fees, there is no requirement to pay. However, if you would like to donate a minimum of $15, you can get a free ASME T-Shirt to show off your pride! If you wish to pay electronically, please click on the PayPal button to your right or on the Join The Organization Page!

Note: Becoming a member of the ASME National Organization is OPTIONAL, but recommended. To join ASME at UH, simply follow the previous instructions.
