Mechanical Engineering Jobs in the Navy

Not all geeks………..Navy Mechanical Engineer

I am a Mechanical Engineer for the Navy. I first worked in Norfolk Virginia after graduating from Clemson University in my home state of South Carolina. Being an engineer for the Navy is an exciting job with lots of travel and interesting assignments.

The benefits are outstanding with four weeks off after three years of service. Oh yeah, I am civil service not active military so I could quit at any time. I do like my job and the people I work with very much. Working for the Navy I have been to San Diego, Houston, Dallas, Jacksonville, Key West, and Beaufort. I have been on many ships including Aircraft Carriers.

I didn’t want to work in a factory as many Engineers do and wanted an exciting career with lots of time off. This is my 3rd year doing this and it is still great.

Engineers get a bad reputation as being geeks but they are not all that way. As a matter of fact I would say that a third to a half are reall cool they just want to have a good life and enough money to support a family. I live in Charleston and enjoy the Southern Lowcountry life.

Why mechanical engineer coverall is navy blue.

Certain blue fabric dyes (such as indigo) are very light-fast (they do not fade when subjected to strong light. This is a desirable quality and has become standard for work clothes.
Maybe that's because clothes in this color are subject to dirt.
